Make Weight Logging Your New Fitness Habit
Psst … hey there! If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already joined the movement to create a Healthier 901, and we’re so proud to have you on board. So far, we’ve welcomed over 5,000 people across the Mid-South to the Healthier 901 community, and your success stories have been nothing short of awe-inspiring. (Seriously: you go!)
The Importance of Tracking Your Weight
You probably also know that Healthier 901 was launched to help Mid-Southerners lose one million pounds in the next three years. It is backed by free support tools, including on-demand workouts, healthy recipes, and the ability to track and log milestones such as minutes exercised and pounds lost.
What you may not know is that if you don’t track your weight (meaning: update your Healthier 901 dashboard with your most recent recorded weight), the pounds you’ve dropped won’t count toward the Mid-South’s weight loss total or get tracked on our way to one million pounds lost. So Memphis, we need your losses to be our gain!

Now, you may be wondering just how regular those regular weigh-ins should be—and much like our goal weight will vary from person to person, the right frequency for weigh-ins will vary, too. Daily weigh-ins work well for some individuals, while others prefer weekly or monthly check-ins on their weight loss progress. Some studies show that daily weigh-ins can help keep us accountable in our pursuit of lifestyle changes. Still, if weighing in too often leads to fixating on your weight, you’ll want to scale it back (see what we did there?) until you land a healthy rhythm for yourself.
Tips for Accurate Weight Tracking
“No matter how often or seldom you choose to check in on your weight loss progress, for the best results, be sure to use the same scale for each weigh-in and try to weigh yourself around the same time of day,” says Christopher Wright, MD, at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. “The ideal time to weigh yourself is shortly after waking in the morning, as your body has been naturally fasting overnight, and you will get a more accurate reading of your current weight.”
Just remember, whether you’re on a mission to reduce your body weight by a certain number of pounds, a certain percentage (even losing 5% of your body weight can make a huge positive impact on your health!) or hope to maintain a healthy weight, your community needs you to track your weight in the (totally free!) Healthier 901 app so that together, we can realize this incredible one million pound goal!
Also, if you’re worried about your personal numbers being shared, please don’t—100% of what you enter into the Healthier 901 app is confidential and for your eyes only. Our numbers (pounds lost, steps tracked, etc.) roll up across the platform to create one giant total, but YOU are the only person who can view YOUR information.
