8 Ways MyChart Can Help You Manage Your Health

Balancing a busy schedule with managing all your healthcare needs can be overwhelming, and it’s easy to put off making appointments or forget to pay a bill. But the new, secure MyChart patient portal at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare makes staying on top of your health much easier. Not only is all your health information in one place, but you can also access it from anywhere.

Here are eight ways MyChart takes the hassle out of managing your healthcare.

1. Appointment Management

MyChart allows you to easily manage your appointments, including:

  • Scheduling appointments
  • Checking in when you arrive
  • Confirming, canceling or rescheduling upcoming appointments
  • Getting reminders for preventive screenings and other care you need
  • Completing pre-appointment tasks

2. Virtual Visits

For your convenience, MyChart lets you schedule video visits so you can have a visit with your provider without the need to drive to the clinic. You can schedule a future video visit or join the queue for an on-demand visit if you have an urgent need.

Some providers also offer e-visits in which you answer a questionnaire about your symptoms and send any relevant photos. Your provider will review them and provide advice for at-home care or recommend scheduling an appointment for treatment.

3. Medication Management

View current medication lists and request refills for prescriptions filled at Methodist Le Bonheur pharmacies. MyChart notifies you when your prescription is ready to be filled or if you need to take any other action before the refill can be processed.

4. Payments

MyChart helps take the stress out of paying medical bills by making it easy to view outstanding balances, make payments and set up automatic payments. You can also handle payments for other people for whom you are an authorized billing user.

5. Communication With Providers

With MyChart, you can ask questions when they arise. Rather than waiting for an appointment to get the answers you need about nonurgent health questions or concerns, you can send a message to the office staff through the portal.

6. Test Results

MyChart allows you to access your test results as soon as they become available instead of waiting for a letter or phone call from your care team. You can also view and download past test results and see trends over time, so you know if efforts to improve your health are paying off.

7. Access to Medical Records

Your health benefits when you and all your providers have access to the most up-to-date information. MyChart gives you full access to your medical records, and you can easily download and share your records with other providers or organizations.

8. Family Access

MyChart can help ensure that no one's health, including yours, slips through the cracks. Just as you can view and access your own health information, you can also keep tabs on health information for every member of your family so you can ensure they stay up to date on screenings, immunizations and visits. You will have full access to your children’s records through age 13, followed by limited access through ages 14-18. Other family members can also give you permission to access their records, and you can grant permission for others to access yours.
